A6 Transport becomes e-motion

The side of a semi-trailer goes off to be re-lettered. When it comes back, the letter and the number that had been running on it for forty-three years have given way to another word. The truck hasn't moved a single bolt.

A6 Transport becomes e-motion. Same company, same team, same fleet — and no name has ever improved anything on its own. Here is where the old one came from, what the new one means, and above all what stands behind it: a way of working that changed before the sign did.

A name built for a paper directory

In April 1983, two friends left the vehicle recovery business they had worked in for four years and set up on their own. The company needed a name, and back then the question had nothing poetic about it: you got known through the yellow pages, and the yellow pages sorted alphabetically. Hence the A — to come first in the list. The 6 counted the six activities they had in mind: servicing and repair, bodywork, recovery, rental, buying and selling, and a filling station.

Three of those six trades were dropped within a few years. It was a good name. It did exactly the job it was asked to do, at a time when a phone number was something you looked up on paper.

What that name didn't say

It said nothing, for instance, about what was going on in the office.

By the end of the 1980s, A6 was running its own software. Advanced enough to produce, on request, the exact number of annual missions for a large roadside assistance network, broken down by vehicle and by marque. In the same sector, on the same date, handwritten cards were still being pinned to nailed boards. After a demonstration to its management, that network had one of its own developed.

We tell this episode here for one precise reason, and it isn't the software. That programme wasn't there to be modern: it was there to account for the work — to tell a client, figures in hand, what had been done with their vehicles. That is the trait of the house. The tool changes every decade; the obligation it serves doesn't.

A website that explains the trade instead of selling it, an app that will show a truck moving across a map: those are the nailed boards of 2026. Not a break with A6 — the same demand, with the means of the day.

The rest of the story — the country's first bed sliding all the way down to the ground in 1985, the first covered truck built in the workshop for a Paris exhibition in 1994, Paul Frère's Ferrari 250 TR at the Motor Show, the 116 cars loaded in enclosed trucks over three days — is on our company page.

What “e-motion” means

Motion, movement: that is the trade. Emotion: that is what climbs into the truck.

A collector car, a race car, a car that took fifteen years to find are not goods. Our work is to move them without taking anything away — not a mark on a sill, not the peace of mind of whoever is waiting at the other end. The name says what we carry. The old one said which column we were printed in.

The lowercase e carries two more things, less visible and just as true. Europe, where our trucks spend most of their weeks: a collection in Belgium and a delivery in Italy is an ordinary Monday. And the step we are taking towards tools that make this trade legible, rather than leaving it to rest on a phone call and on trust.

The name is not the point

A company doesn't change its sign for a letter. The risk, for a house of forty years, is believing that its reputation works for it. It works for nobody: it is remade at every loading, or it isn't made at all.

That is the real content of this change of name. The house is run today by Catherine Henrard and Guy Delfosse — operations on one side, the fleet on the other, the same demand from both. What changed with them doesn't show on a truck. It shows in the way a job is prepared before departure, in the way something unexpected is flagged before the client rings to find out, in the way someone who is right gets answered. It shows too in what we turn down: a transport we can't hold to the announced schedule is said straight away, not accepted and explained afterwards.

The houses that trust us with their cars — D'Ieteren, Autoworld, Porsche Import, Bentley, Lamborghini, the PSA group for more than twenty years — didn't wait for a new logo to judge on the evidence. That is where this work is measured, transport after transport.

Forty-three years of experience guarantee nothing. They come with obligations.

What doesn't change

This is the part our clients care about most, so it is stated plainly.

  • The company is the same. No takeover, no change of shareholder, no buy-out. The trading name changes; the business behind it is the one from 1983.
  • The VAT number doesn't change: BE 0424.120.325.
  • The transport licence doesn't change (no. 16639), nor does the transport insurance, nor the conditions under which your vehicles are covered.
  • Your contracts and your rates stay valid, with no amendment to sign and nothing to do on your side.
  • The phone number stays the same: +32 2 347 40 30.
  • The address stays the same: Rue de la Soierie 190, B-1190 Forest.
  • The trucks, the trailers and the workshop are the same. So are the crews. The person who answers you today will answer you tomorrow.

What does change

This website. You can describe your transport yourself — the vehicle, the departure, the destination, the access constraints — and receive a firm proposal within 24 hours. That is the first aim of this rebuild: that the request be simple to put together, including for someone who has never had a car transported and doesn't know which details matter.

An app, in preparation. Ordering from your phone, following your vehicle on a map during the journey, finding your messages and your documents in one place. It is not live: we have described what it will hold, and nothing more, in a dedicated article.

The people who built all this

Two names, because it would be dishonest to tell this story without them: Thierry and François.

What they worked out is still on the road. The enclosed fleet as it stands today — the discreet semi-trailers, the two-car units, the rigids — was thought through and built by them, truck after truck, starting from a second-hand bed bought by two thirty-year-old recovery drivers. The moves a crew repeats this morning on a factory car park come from there. Nobody reinvented this trade by changing the sign.

And they are not alone: the drivers, the workshop, the people who answered the phone for forty years are part of e-motion just as much. A company that changes its name doesn't inherit a logo, it inherits a craft.

What happens now

  • a6-transport.be redirects to e-motion.be. Your bookmarks and the links you saved keep working: they land on the matching page of the new site.
  • Your emails to an @a6-transport.be address still reach us — they are forwarded to the e-motion mailboxes. Our replies will now come from an @e-motion.be address: that is the one to save.
  • Nothing to do on your side. If you keep a supplier list or an internal record, this is a good moment to change the name on it — but a transport ordered under the old name leaves exactly as before.

A vehicle to move? Describe it online — firm proposal within 24 hours — or call us on +32 2 347 40 30.

Your questions about the change of name

Is e-motion the same company as A6 Transport?

Yes. Same business, same company number and same VAT number (BE 0424.120.325), same team, same fleet. Only the trading name changes: there has been no takeover, no sale and no change of shareholder.

Do my contracts and my rates stay valid?

Yes, with no amendment to sign and nothing to do on your side. A transport ordered under the A6 Transport name runs on the same terms, with the same insurance cover.

Does the VAT number change?

No. It remains BE 0424.120.325. The road transport licence (no. 16639) is unchanged as well. Your invoices will carry the e-motion name, with the same identifiers.

Do my emails sent to an @a6-transport.be address still arrive?

Yes, they are forwarded to the e-motion mailboxes. Our replies will come from an @e-motion.be address: that is the one to save in your contacts.

Do the phone number and the address change?

No. +32 2 347 40 30, Rue de la Soierie 190 in B-1190 Forest — as before.

Why change the name now?

Because “A6” was chosen in 1983 to come first in a paper directory, and it says nothing about the trade as it has become: enclosed transport of valuable vehicles, anywhere in Europe. The name follows a shift that started before it — the way the house is run, the way jobs are prepared and followed through, a website and an app that make the work visible. A name on its own would have been worth nothing.
