Our Story Starts in Brussels

Two Brussels recovery drivers setting up on their own. Four years spent picking cars up off the roadside had taught them one thing: what damages a car is almost never the road. It's the way it gets loaded.

Everything else came from there. A bed that slides all the way down to the ground, because a low car won't climb a ramp. Then a cover, because a classic body has no place out in the rain. Then enclosed trucks, because what rides inside is nobody else's business.

Not one of those decisions was made in an office. Each of them answers a particular car, on a particular day, that had to be loaded without a mark on it.

That is still how the fleet moves on.

Today it's the same hands. Our drivers know which cars don't like the cold, which ones only start on the third try, which ones you never push by the rear wing — none of that is taught on a course, it's learnt by loading, for years. It's all we do. The other car trades, the a-move group keeps them beside us in Brussels: that's what stands behind us when a request calls for more.

An impossible schedule, a car that won't start any more, an owner kept posted at every step, a delivery nobody is meant to see: tell us what you need.

What doesn't bend: the enclosed truck, our own crew, the lashing. Everything else is open.

A car handed over is trust that gets checked at every single loading, never settled once and for all. That's why nothing here is allowed to settle: the trucks change, the procedures tighten, the tools keep up with their time. The day what we do starts to feel like enough, it will be time to worry.

Two friends, six trades

After four years in vehicle recovery, two friends founded A6 in April. The A to come first in the phone book, the 6 for the six trades they had in mind — three of which were dropped within a few years. Recovery stayed, and in 1985 came the country's first bed sliding all the way down to the ground: a lowered car drives on flat, no ramp. Race cars and classics arrived with it.
